Hiro Nagaoka

Great black and white work from photographer Hiro Nagaoka (who, I should add, is also a classmate of mine at RISD!) You know I am obsessed with medium format and dramatic lighting, so duh, I love all of these. My favorite is probably the image halfway down of the man in the parking lot; despite the candidness of the photo, the composition still manages to be incredibly well thought out. It's both wonderfully symmetrical and yet still very full of movement. You also just have to love all the subtle tone variations in the creamy grey sky above. Mmm. Check out his portfolio for more work.
