Great portraits from Molly Peck! I love how close she gets to the subject, and the dramatic, almost moody, lighting she captures. It's rare that such a small square portrait is able to capture the subject so wholly, but I really feel like I get an amazing sense of the characters she paints in these. More portraits and other cool work on her site!
Art duo APAK is based in Portland and comprised of husband and wife Aaron Piland and Ayumi Kajikawa Piland. They are also adorable! Their work has a lovely retro vibe and also references lots of cute space themes. Just, yes. Loads more work on their website!
Love the color scheme and texture in these pieces by Sachin Teng. There's something really effective about the contrast between the flat color blocks next to the fine line-work and more representational shading techniques. The references to technology in his work are pretty great as well, and I absolutely couldn't agree more with Sachin's artist statement about being an illustrator who thinks like a designer, and how art a sort of "aesthetic discource" or subliminal message. He also won a gold medal in the Society of Illustrators Annual Exhibition so GOOD JOB MR.TENG. Website for more.
(Also I like that he went to Pratt because my pal Christina Bishop is at Pratt right now and I miss her very much.)
