Alexander Blue

Alexander Blue's art is reminiscant for me of the children's book illustrations of Lane Smith. However, Blue's use of intensely bright colors and cutesy smiley faces turns his work into a more cheerful use of slightly distressed paper textures. Apart from his personal work, Alexander Blue has also done animations for coca cola and pitched for Gap. He uses almost fifties inspired cartoon figures and exagerated colors and lines to convey simple ideas. Yet, his work streches across a broad spectrum, for he also creates darker, inky scenes set in labratories and under the sea. Despite his awesomely trippy space scenes and real children's illustrations, my personal favorite works of his though are his cleanest; clean primary and secondary colors on a solid background.
